How to store fertilizer?
Moisture proof
Ammonium bicarbonate is prone to moisture absorption, causing nitrogen volatilization loss; Ammonium nitrate has strong hygroscopicity and is prone to clumping and deliquescence; Lime nitrogen and superphosphate are prone to clumping after moisture absorption, which affects the application effect. Therefore, these fertilizers should be stored in a dry and cool place, especially when storing ammonium bicarbonate. The packaging should be tightly sealed to avoid contact with air.
Prevent volatilization
Ammonia water and ammonium bicarbonate are highly volatile and should be sealed during storage. Nitrogen fertilizers and superphosphate are strictly prohibited from being mixed and stacked with alkaline substances (such as lime, plant ash, etc.) to prevent volatilization and loss of nitrogen fertilizers and reduce the fertilizer efficiency of phosphorus fertilizers.
Heat resistant
The higher the temperature, the more severe the deliquescence, volatilization, and agglomeration of fertilizers (the poorer the stability). Therefore, the temperature of storage houses should be kept below 30 ℃, and they should not be placed in kitchens with heat sources in rural areas.
Fire prevention and disaster prevention
Ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and other flammable materials such as kerosene, gasoline, straw, sawdust should not be stored together to prevent fires.
Explosion prevention
Ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and other substances are prone to explosion. If mixed with metal powders such as copper and iron, friction and impact can cause explosion accidents. So after these fertilizers clump and harden, it is strictly forbidden to strike them with metal objects, and they must be crushed with heavy objects.
Anti corrosion
Calcium superphosphate is corrosive and should be prevented from coming into contact with skin and metal objects; Ammonia water has strong corrosiveness to copper and iron, and should be stored in ceramic, plastic, or wooden containers. In addition, fertilizers should not be stacked together with seeds, and seeds should not be bagged with fertilizers to avoid affecting seed germination.
Anti mixing storage
Fertilizers have acidic and alkaline properties, and should be classified and stored separately according to their place of origin, type, and nature to avoid reducing fertilizer efficiency.
Prevent misuse
Fertilizers should not be mixed with pesticides, human and animal medicines, edible items such as sugar and salt to avoid misuse. Especially to prevent children from accidentally eating.
