How to properly preserve fertilizers?
Six precautions should be taken when storing fertilizers:
1. Prevent mixing. Mixing fertilizers together can easily deteriorate their physical properties. If superphosphate encounters ammonium nitrate, it will increase its hygroscopicity and cause inconvenience in application.
2. The logo does not live up to its name. Some farmers use bagged urea for compound fertilizers, some use bagged urea for compound fertilizers or ammonium sulfate, and some use imported compound fertilizers for special fertilizers, which can easily lead to errors during use.
3. Anti breakage bag packaging. If nitrate nitrogen fly ash has strong hygroscopicity, it will turn into a slurry or even a liquid after absorbing water. It should be stored in a sealed container, usually a ceramic container such as a cylinder or jar, and tightly covered.
4. Fire prevention. Especially nitrate nitrogen fertilizers such as ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate will decompose into oxygen when exposed to high temperatures, and will ignite or explode when exposed to open flames.
5. Corrosion prevention. Calcium superphosphate contains free acids, while ammonium bicarbonate is alkaline. These fertilizers should not come into contact with metal containers or scales to prevent corrosion.
